24 years later...the song still fits
This song made such an impression on me when it was released. I realized this last week as it played in an office down the hall from me. I was twelve when it was playing over and over on MTV and I remember buying the 45 record, which was a cool way to make a donation. Now I believe it was the first time I thought globally about anything. Feed the World...and help feed people in your own community.
Great video, and I had never seen it or heard the song! MTV and pop radio stations weren't playing in my house as my kids were grown by then. "Feed the World"... our local school is having a food drive for grades 7-12. Each class can invite an elementary grade to join their "team"... results of the competition is announced each week and all donations go to the local food shelf. Right now my granddaughter's 9th grade is in the lead! And the food shelf is always the winner!
I vaguely remember this song - I guess when I was 7 and you were twelve, I wasn't aloud to be in your room! Funny to see how young sting looked and WHAM just makes me giggle.
Allison: werent allowed in my room? I think you had to walk through my room to get to yours at that point. You probably just werent into "my" music..like not wanting to window shop at jewelry stores or watch oprah when I wanted to. I am glad we finally became the same age. And Wham...I still secretly love them.
Corin, I just heard this song again while Christmas shopping today. - funny how you pick up on things after it is brought to your attention. I do remember Wham - I think you ingrained "Wake me up before you Go Go" in to my head!
